Welcoming 2018 during a walk along the Delaware River

I set out on my first walk of the new year this afternoon and decided to take a walk down Delaware Canal Towpath. It was certainly a beautiful day, with the sun shining bright. It was very cold today as well, with high temperature only reaching 18 degrees. I really didn’t mind it. This is my third winter in PA since I moved back East from Southern California and I have finally built up my collection of cold weather gear to the point where I feel well prepared for extended period of extreme cold. For this winter a added a pair of Merrell FST Moab Ice+Thermo hiking boots and a Polartec Balaclava. I did not need the Balaclava today, but I carry with me at all times in case I have break it out.

Here is a short video I made on the Towpath, along with a few still shots I took while I was on the trail.
